
Rivermen Sign Lapoint to PTO

Peoria Rivermen General Manager Kevin McDonald announced Sunday that the club has signed defenseman Derrick LaPoint to a professional tryout contract. The team has also released Ryan Palmer from a PTO.
LaPoint, 23, has played 20 games for the Reading Royals of the ECHL this season recording three assists and four penalty minutes. The Eau Claire, Wis. native also played in four games for the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL this year accumulating just two penalty minutes.
Prior to his professional career, he attended the University of North Dakota from 2007-11 where he played in 149 career games totaling seven goals, 37 assists and 70 penalty minutes.
Palmer, 28, played 21 games with the Bloomington Blaze of the CHL before joining the Rivermen for last night's 2-0 win against Toronto. He did not register a point in his only game with Peoria.
