
Aeros Can't Come back from Early Hole

HOUSTON ---- Cody Almond, Jon DiSalvatore and Harrison Reed each scored for Houston, but the Aeros couldn't overcome a four-goal deficit and fell to the Rochester Americans 6-3 Sunday at Toyota Center.
Jeff Taffe had two assists for Houston, which saw its six-game points streak. The Aeros, who dropped to 16-5-2-7 are a point back of first place in the American Hockey League's West Division.
Almond put Houston up 1-0 at the15:43 mark of the first period in his first game in Aeros uniform since Nov. 30. Rochester evened the score just 1:08 later on Derek Whitmore's team-leading 13th goal of the season. T.J. Brennan scored at 19:34 in the first period to give Rochester a 2-1 lead, and Alex Biega, Jacob Legace and Travis Turnbull scored in the second period for Rochester. Maxime Legault scored into an empty net the third period for the Amerks.
DiSalvatore's 10th goal of the season came via the power play 54 seconds into the third period to cut the lead to 5-2, and Reed made it 5-3 with his first goal of the season at 4:33 in the third period.
The Aeros continue a three-game homestand against the Texas Stars at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday at Toyota Center. Rod Ryan from 94.5 The Buzz is the host as Miss Aeros 2011-12 will be crowned on the ice based on crowd reaction during the game.
BOMB DROPPINGS
Houston signed Aaron Lee to a PTO prior to the game. Lee led Rio Grande Valley of the Central Hockey League in goals prior to joining the Aeros... The Minnesota Wild recalled Jed Ortmeyer and Chad Rau prior to the game and reassigned Cody Almond to the Aeros. Almond had a goal in eight games with the Wild... Justin Fontaine has a point in four of the last five games (1-3=4)... Cody Almond has a point in four straight games with the Aeros (2-2=4)... Jeff Taffe had his first two point game (0-2=2) since Nov. 4 at Hamilton and has a point in three straight games (0-4=4)... The Aeros broke the 100,000 mark in attendance this season with the 4,608 who attended Sunday's game.
