Lack Stands Tall in Wolves 2-1 Win

Rosemont, Ill. ---Goaltender Eddie Lack racked up 31 saves to guide the Chicago Wolves to a 2-1 victory over Toronto on Sunday afternoon at Allstate Arena.
Tim Miller and Bill Sweatt recorded goals for the Wolves (13-10-1-3) as the teams condensed all of the scoring into a 2-minute, 2-second stretch of the first period.
"Toronto is a good, grinding team and gave us some difficult looks tonight," said Wolves head coach Craig MacTavish. "We were fortunate to capitalize on two chances and were able to hang on."
North Division-leading Toronto (15-10-3-1) enjoyed a brief lead in the first as Lack fended off the initial rush by Darryl Boyce, but Marlies defenseman Jeff Finger seized the rebound in the slot and fired it home at the 6:36 mark.
Just 38 seconds later, Miller earned the equalizer for the Wolves. Sebastian Erixon threaded a pass through the neutral zone to Miller, who skated almost to goaltender Ben Scrivens' doorstep before backhanding a shot that deflected off a defenseman's stick through Scrivens' legs. Erixon and Ryan Parent earned assists on Miller's sixth goal of the season.
The Wolves took the lead for good at the 8:48 mark as Darren Haydar controlled the puck along the half-boards and centered it to Jordan Schroeder. He spotted Bill Sweatt flying down the left side and delivered a pass across the goal mouth that Sweatt turned into his sixth goal of the season.
Lack (5-7-3) and the Wolves defense took it from there. The Marlies enjoyed a 6-on-4 opportunity during the final 52.2 seconds --- thanks to a Wolves penalty and a decision to pull Scrivens for an extra attacker --- but the Wolves held fast.
Scrivens (6-4-0) posted 21 saves for the Marlies, who dropped their third road game in as many days.
