
Rivermen Score Early, Often, Cruise to 7-3 Victory in Fayetteville

Fayetteville, NC - The Peoria Rivermen put six goals on the board in the first 20 minutes and coasted to a 7-3 victory over the Fayetteville FireAntz Saturday night. The win, Peoria's seventh in a row, increases Peoria's league-leading point total to 36 with one game in Macon remaining on the current road trip.
The Rivermen started the avalanche of scoring at 7:12 of the first on a powerplay tally by Terrence Wallin. Wallin added an even strength goal to make it 2-0 Peoria at 8:25. The FireAntz cut their deficit in half at the 10:30 mark when Kyle Gibbons beat Peoria goaltender Kyle Rank to make it 2-1.
Peoria extended their lead at 11:29 when Steve Morra beat Fayetteville goalie Parker Van Buskirk. Van Buskirk was pulled from the game by the FireAntz bench after Adam Stuart beat him at 14:30 of the third for the 4-1 Rivermen lead.
Peoria continued piling on against relief goaltender Sean Bonar when Alec Hagaman put a turnaround backhand home from the top of the crease at 14:53 and a Chris Wilson slapshot hit the back of the net from the high slot at 17:21 to make it 6-1 through one period.
Gibbons scored a goal for Fayetteville at 1:37 of the second and Derek Elliot scored at 8:34 of the third to make it 6-3. Wallin completed a hat trick with an empty net goal at 19:36 of the third to complete the 7-3 final score.
Rank made 30 saves on 33 shots to get the win in his first game action since December 19 in Columbus. The win gives Rank 11 for the season to tie him with Huntsville's Kevin Genoe for the league lead.
