Derek Nesbitt scores Peoria's lone goal in return from injury
After missing four games with an injury, Derek Nesbitt gave the Peoria Rivermen a lead before the Chicago Wolves scored three unanswered goals to beat the Rivermen 3-1 on Saturday night at Allstate Arena. The win for Chicago snapped a four-game winless streak (0-3-1-0) as Matt Climie made 24 saves in net for the Wolves.
The Rivermen (6-10-2-1) return to Carver Arena to host the Texas Stars (9-8-1-1) on Sunday at 5:05 p.m.
The first goal of the contest didn't occur until the 3:15 mark of the second period. T.J. Hensick sent a pass to the high slot and Nesbitt turned a shot towards the net as he was falling down for his team-leading sixth goal of the season.
Chicago tied the game and took the lead with two goals in a span of 2:27 near the midway point of the second period. At 10:26, Tim Miller kicked the puck to his stick and snapped one past Jake Allen for his second of the year. At 12:53, Michael Davies buried his second of the year to give the Wolves the lead for good.
Darren Archibald finished off a 3-on-1 rush for Chicago at 16:32 of the third to finish off the Rivermen.
The Wolves outshot the Rivermen 32 to 25.
The Rivermen host the Texas Stars on Sundy at 5:05 p.m. Tickets for kids 12 and under are just $1in the upper bowl and $5 in the lower bowl courtesy of Alexander's Steakhouse, Coca-Cola, and Fun on the Run.
