RiverKings Waive Hustead, Smyth on Leave

(Southaven, MS) -- The Mississippi RiverKings of the Central Hockey League (CHL) have announced today that the team has waived forward Taylor Hustead, while defenseman Adam Smyth been given a league-approved leave of absence.

Hustead earned two assists and was given six penalty minutes in six appearances with the RiverKings. He has previous professional hockey experience with the Twin City (Winston-Salem, NC) Cyclones of the Southern Professional Hockey League, and played collegiate hockey at the University of Miami-Ohio.

Smyth has a goal and an assist for two points in seven appearances for the RiverKings. His one goal was a game-winner Saturday against Colorado. Adam's also been given 30 penalty minutes while with the RiverKings this year.

Adam has previous professional experience with Youngstown of the Central Hockey League, where he played under current RiverKings coach Kevin Kaminski, in the United Hockey League, ECHL, and had a brief stint with the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League.

He's returning home to his home in Ontario to be with his wife for the birth of their child as the reason for taking a leave of absence from the team.
