Mississippi RiverKings News Release

ALBUQUERQUE—Don Parsons scored the tying and game winning goals to run his league high total to 30 and help the Memphis RiverKings defeat the New Mexico Scorpions 5-4 in overtime Monday afternoon in Albquerque.

Memphis saw a 3-0 second period lead evaporate and then materialize into a 4-3 third period Scorpion lead, but that is when Parsons went to work. He scored on his patented wide move from the left side 13 seconds after New Mexico's Alexandre Piche gave the Scorpions the lead. Parsons then won it a minute-16 into the overtime, this time from behind the net on a wrap-around for the game winner.

Goals by Travis Banga, Jeremy Goetzinger and Phil Aucoin built a 3-0 lead for Memphis, only to have New Mexico come back with two goals in the final 51 seconds of the second period and two in the third. J.F. Racine made 32 saves in improving his record to 6-4-1.

The win gave the RiverKings five out of a possible six points on this three game road-trip and gives them a 4-1-1 record in their last six games. Memphis will be home for one this Wednesday as they host the Odessa Jackalopes at 7:05 at the DeSoto Civic Center.
