Mississippi RiverKings News Release

SOUTHAVEN—A sweet piglet known for his starring role in children's literature will be lending his hand—er, hoof—to the cause of newborn babies and their mothers at the Memphis RiverKings game against the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs on Sunday, Jan. 23, when the ‘Kings spotlight the non-profit organization Birthright.

Piglet, you say? Wait, it's not who you think! The lovable mascot that will be in attendance on Sunday is Sqedunk, star of page and stage.

Sqedunk's credits include a major role in the "Miss Lori Live" shows, along with his creator, Lori Reeves; a soon-to-be-released exercise video for the young child, "Get Fit With Sqedunk;" and the illustrated children's book "Sqedunk Takes a Tub Tub" (written by Reeves and illustrated by local artist Dianna Broadway).

During the game Reeves will sell the books for $2 a piece, 50 percent of which will go to Birthright, an organization that aids women who are distressed by their pregnancies. Birthright is supported by private contributions and staffed by social workers.

"Birthright is a wonderful organization, and helps so many women and babies," Reeves said. "We are so excited to be a part of this evening of fundraising for them. What a great cause."

Reeves will autograph any books sold, while Sqedunk will be on hand to meet and greet young fans.

For more information on Birthright's free and confidential services, call 901-327-8109.
