Mississippi RiverKings News Release

The Mississippi RiverKings today suspended goalie Larry Sterling without pay and will start Sebastien Centomo for tonight's road game against the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs.

"After careful discussions with Head Coach Kevin McClelland, we felt that it would be best for the team and everyone else involved to place Larry Sterling on team suspension," said Dave Mattice, RiverKings Director of Business Operations.

Sterling, 24, helped the RiverKings get off to a 7-2 start this season. He and Centomo produced the best team save percentage in the league at .934. Individually, Sterling this year had a 3-1 record with a 1.76 goals against average and a .930 save percentage. He shutout the Mudbugs the last time the RiverKings played them at CenturyTel Center on Nov. 2.

Sterling had a career year last season, going 31-12-5 with a 3.05 GAA and an .896 save percentage. In addition to wins, he led the league in appearances with 51 and minutes played with 2,955. Sterling also received credit for the win at the CHL All-Star Game in Bossier City.

Fresh off his recognition as Oakley CHL Goaltender of the Week, Centomo, 26, will start in net tonight for the RiverKings. He has a 4-1 record with a 1.60 GAA and a .944 save percentage this season. Going back to his rookie season of 2001-2002, Centomo has a RiverKings lifetime record of 20-2.

The RiverKings and Mudbugs begin their game tonight at 7:05.
