(Southaven, MS) -- The Mississippi RiverKings (41-15-3) of the Central Hockey League returned to winning form Friday night at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven, knocking off Northeast Division rival Bossier-Shreveport (37-18-4) 3-2. With the win, Mississippi increased their lead at the top of the division race to six points over an idle Oklahoma City with five games to play in the regular season.

Bossier-Shreveport opened the scoring with a goal from Chris Brassard at ten minutes of the period for a 1-0 lead after twenty minutes of play.

The RiverKings rallied in the second period with a trio of goals for a 3-1 second intermission advantage, led by goals from Dane Marshall, the eventual game-winning goal from Jeff Nelson, and the third goal from Garrett Larson on the power play.

Mark Johnson finished the scoring for Bossier-Shreveport five minutes into the final period, but the Mudbugs couldn't get the game any closer.

With the victory, Mississippi has now won 12 of its last 13 games. Kevin Beech (34-10-3) won his tenth straight game in goal with an 18-save effort, while Mudbug goalie Ken Carroll (19-7-2) lost to the RiverKings for the second time this season.

The RiverKings outshot the Mudbugs 44-20.

The RiverKings next play the Mudbugs at home on Saturday, March 14th at 7:05 PM in the DeSoto Civic Center. Ticket information is available from the RiverKings front offices by phoning 662-342-1755.
