Bucks Snap Skid With 6-1 Win

AMARILLO, TX- The Laredo Bucks beat the Amarillo Gorillas 6-1 Friday night at the Amarillo Civic Center. The Bucks win coupled with Rio Grande Valley's 1-0 loss to Corpus puts Laredo four points up on the Bees for the third playoff spot in the Conference. The Bucks snapped their five-game winless streak to improve to 32-22-5 (69 points)

Igor Agarunov had three points (2-1=3), with Sebastien Centomo stopping 27 of 28 Gorillas shots to pick up the win. Centomo picked up his 19th win of the season to tie his career high.

The Bucks jumped out in front of the Gorillas early as they built a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes.

Igor Agarunov put Laredo up 1-0 just 1:29 into the game when he sent a wrister from the bottom of the right circle past A.J Bucchino. The goal gave Agarunov a new career high with 16 goals this season. James Hiebert (1) and Adam Rivet (25) picked up assists.

Laredo made it 2-0 just 6:32 into the first when Erick Lizon one-timed a laser feed from Jason Dixon at the left side of the crease past Bucchino. The strike was Lizon's seventh of the year, with Dixon (28) and Alex Goupil (32) picking up assists.

The Bucks outshot the Gorillas in the first period 13-10.

Laredo scored four second period goals to increase their lead to 6-1 after two periods.

Goupil put the Bucks up 3-0 when he picked up a loose puck in the Gorillas end and sent a wrist shot from the blue line past Bucchino. The tally was Goupil's 23rd of the season, with Matt Miller (10) and Steve Weidlich (13) picking up assists.

Jason Dixon made it 4-0 when he jammed in a rebound right in front of Bucchino.

The Bucks made it 5-0 when Agarunov picked up his second of the night as he scored a breakaway goal shorthanded past Bucchino.

Bucchino was pulled after the Bucks fifth goal.

The Gorillas would get on the board when Stuart MacRae scored a shorthanded breakaway goal 13:09 into the second. To make it 5-1 Laredo.

Brent Cullaton would take advantage of another Amarillo turnover when he slammed a slap from the left circle past Mike Gorman. The goal was Cullaton's 20 of the season.

The Bucks were outshot in the second period 10-9.

Laredo outshot Amarillo 32-28.

The win gives Terry Ruskowski his 497th victory of his career.

The Bucks continue their four game road trip Saturday night at the Texas Brahmas.

Laredo will return home for their final two regular season home games when they take on the Texas Brahmas on March 18th-19th at the LEC. The Laredo Bucks, in conjunction with Border Lease and Laredo Energy have announced that they will again "Pack The House For Charity" at the Bucks first home playoff game this season. All Tickets in every section, with the exception of glass and club level seats will be available for a minimum $5 donation, with all proceeds going to Sacred Heart Children's Home and South Texas Food Bank. The Bucks, along with Border Lease and Laredo Energy are looking to sell out the game, and have 8,002 fans at the Laredo Entertainment Center.

Tickets are ON SALE NOW by calling 718-BUCK (2825), or by going to the LEC box office. All walk up tickets on the day of the game will also be available for $5. This is the second year in a row that fans can receive a ticket for $5 to a playoff game with all the proceeds going to charity. Fans can donate more than $5 to the charities if they so choose. *Win A Vegas Weekend Or Carnival Cruise From The Bucks!*

The Bucks have announced that fans can win either a Las Vegas Weekend Getaway or a Carnival Cruise, if they purchase a Bucks playoff package.

The Las Vegas Weekend Getaway includes airfare and hotel reservations, courtesy of the Bucks, on dates agreed upon by the winners of the getaway and the Bucks.

The Carnival Cruise winner receives a FREE 4 night cruise leaving from the Port of Galveston, Texas, courtesy of the Bucks, on dates agreed upon by the winners of the cruise and the Bucks.

Winners of either the Las Vegas Weekend or Carnival Cruise may not take a cash equivalent and it is not transferable.

To be eligible to win one of the two great prizes, fans must buy their Bucks playoff package before the first home playoff game. Drawing will be held during the 1st intermission of the 1st playoff game.
