Brahmas rumble Thunder

March 13, 2009 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (March 13)-The Texas Brahmas were able to match the amount of wins from last season as they won their 40th game of the season with a 5-2 victory over the Wichita Thunder. The Brahmas have five games remaining in the regular season.

At the 8:31 mark in the opening period, Texas enforcer Nathan Saunders netted a powerplay goal on Thunder goaltender John Daigneau. Wichita took the lead scoring two unanswered goals in the second on goaltender Brett Jaeger, but the lead didn't last long when Travis Banga scored unassisted to pull Texas even.

Not even a minute later Matt Quinn put Texas back up, and from that point the Brahmas did not look back. In the third period Pete Rouleau scored a beautiful powerplay goal from Justin Kinnunen and Tyler Skworchinski giving the Brahmas the two goal lead. Rookie Matt Burto topped things off with his fifth goal of the season as Texas earned the 5-2 win and now just need to gain three points to clinch the Southern Conference's top seed (combination of Texas wins and Odessa losses).

The Brahmas (40-14-5) return to home ice at the NYTEX Sports Centre tomorrow evening to face Southeast divisional foes the Laredo Bucks for a 7:05 PM faceoff. For ticket information please contact the Brahmas Box Office at (817) 336-4423.
