Mississippi RiverKings News Release

SOUTHAVEN, MS --- The Mississippi RiverKings of the Central Hockey League (CHL) have announced that the team has acquired forward Patrik Levesque (pronounced luh-VEHK) from the Quad City Mallards. Mississippi is sending future considerations to Quad City in exchange for the eighth year professional.

Levesque has scored one goal and added four assists for the Mallards in ten games this season. However, he scored 30 goals and added 37 assists for 67 points in 76 games last season for Quad City, when the Mallards were members of the International Hockey League. Those numbers, and the 140 penalty minutes taken, are all career professional highs for the native of Trois-Rivieres, Quebec. He led the team in all major scoring categories and was third on the roster for penalty minutes. Patrik's 30 goals last season placed him in a tie for fifth in the IHL for goals scored.

Looking to inject more offense into the lineup, RiverKings Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin "Killer" Kaminski feels Levesque can fill that void. "Patrik will bring us some much-needed scoring punch," Kaminski said. "He will add depth, a big body who is a very good skater, and plays with grit. He has a knack for the net and will be a welcome addition to the RiverKings."

Before coming to Quad City, Levesque played 21 games of the 2008-09 season for Trois-Rivieres in the Quebec-based Ligue Nord Americane de Hockey (North American Hockey League), where he scored nine goals and 24 points in 21 games.

Levesque's professional background includes CHL experience with Corpus Christi (2003-04), Amarillo (2004-05), Lubbock (2006-07), and Arizona (2007-08). He's also seen action in the Southern Professional Hockey League and in the ECHL.

Levesque played three seasons in the Quebec Major Junior League, at Sherbrooke and Drummondville, before beginning his pro career.

Levesque is expected to join the RiverKings later this week, when the team returns home from its current road trip to Wichita and Tulsa.

Mississippi plays at Wichita tomorrow night, at Tulsa on Thanksgiving night, and will host Laredo on Saturday night in a 7:05 PM contest at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven. Fans can take advantage of a Black Friday Frenzy special and get all Lower Bowl tickets to Saturday's home game for just $15 each between noon and 5 PM Friday at the DCC Box Office and through Ticketmaster from 9 AM to 5 PM Friday only.
