Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (November 23)- A goaltender's nightmare became a fans dream Tuesday in Odessa as the Brahmas and Jackalopes exhibited a fourteen goal frenzy, where Texas came out on top 8-6. Forward Chad Woollard recorded a hat trick; all three coming in the third period.

A goal from Alex Dunn put Odessa on the boards first within two minutes of the opening faceoff, but Texas' Greg Hogeboom scored the equalizer nine minutes later on the powerplay with assists from Ross Rouleau and Jason Krischuk.

Texas' special teams was tested in the middle frame as Odessa earned a 5 on 3 advantage for 1:57 early, but the 3rd ranked unit was able to kill off the penalties. But, it was an exchange of five goals that told the tale in the second period beginning with a goal from Jacks forward Kenny Bernard. Captain Jason Deitsch picked up his 100th point in a Brahmas uniform when he netted a goal with his extra effort for the 2-2 tie. Two minutes later Todd Robinson beat Brahmas netminder Kevin Beech on the powerplay at the 15:01 mark. Just as the powerplay expired, Mick Lawrence was able to take a puck resting on the Odessa goal line into the back of the net to tie the game. The fifth goal of the period came shorthanded from Mike Lesperance to give the Jackalopes the 4-3 lead into intermission.

Chad Woollard matched the score one minute into the third period only to have Odessa take the lead back and then go up by two with back to back goals from Mike Ramsay and Todd Robinson. The relentless Texas offense had more ammunition as they revived their struggling powerplay with three straight goals from Deitsch, Woollard and eventually the game winner from Nathan Saunders. An unassisted goal from Woollard, his third of the night, put the cherry top for the 8-6 victory.

The Brahmas went 4 for 9 on the powerplay and outshot the Jackalopes 45-36.

- Nathan Saunders played his first game with the Brahmas for the season recording a Gordie Howe hat trick; goal, assist and fight. Todd Griffith returned to the Brahmas lineup following a four game suspension.

Texas returns to the NYTEX Sports Centre tomorrow night to kickoff Military Appreciation Nights against the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs at 7 pm. Immediately following the game is a free public skate with the team. For ticket information please contact the Brahmas Box Office at (817) 336-4423 or visit www.brahmas.com .
