Mississippi RiverKings News Release

SOUTHAVEN, MS --- Your Mississippi RiverKings continue to look for ways to be busy off-the-ice, when they're not busy on the ice. Here's a couple of examples.

For instance, players Matt Summers and Ryan Kretzer were busy talking to students at the Cornerstone Preparatory School in the Binghampton area of Memphis on October 20th. Summers and Kretzer introduced the nearly three dozen students to floor hockey, and spoke about the importance of their school experience, using safety equipment, and much more. Pictures from the visit are posted on the RiverKings web site .

Among the activities of The RiverKings Fan Club will be a poker tournament on Sunday, November 7th at Southland Park Gaming and Racing in West Memphis. Prizes will be awarded, including a first prize of $500 and dinner for four at the Bourbon Street Steakhouse Grill at Southland Park. More information on that event is also found on the RiverKings web site.

Tomorrow night, RiverKings fans are invited to come to the Southaven Buffalo Wild Wings location for a Meet and Greet event from 6-to-8 PM. Members of the team will be on hand to meet with fans, sign autographs, and enjoy 45 Cent Wing Tuesdays. Some giveaways will also be up for grabs, so fans are encouraged to wear their favorite RiverKings gear and join in the event.

Buffalo Wild Wings is also where fans can gather on Friday, October 29th, for a RiverKings Away Game Watch Party. You can come out and watch the team play at Missouri on the big screens starting at 7 PM.

Your favorite hockey mascot Sheldon the Turtle along with selected RiverKings staffers will be on hand on Thursday, October 28th to support the Palmer Home Golf Tournament at Windyke Country Club, 8535 Winchester Road in Memphis. Play begins at 12:30 PM in the event to support the Palmer Home for Children .

Sheldon may also be getting his eyes checked on Friday, October 29th, between 3-to-4 PM, when he visits the Southern College of Optometry, 1245 Madison Avenue in Memphis, for an event there.

Sunday, October 31st, the RiverKings pair up in a three-on-three costume tournament, which is a Killer Kaminski tradition. The event is hosted by the RiverKings Fan Club and Sheldon the Turtle will be on hand. Admission is a donation to stuff the skate for the Fan and support Assists for Autism.

Next action on the ice for your Mississippi RiverKings will be Friday, October 29th at Missouri, followed by their next home game on Saturday, October 30th, against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees at 7:05 PM at the DeSoto Civic Center. The RiverKings Assists for Autism program will be spotlighted during the game. Fans are encouraged to come in costume and youngsters can trick or treat on the concourse.
