(Southaven, MS) -- Streaks were broken on Saturday, November 1st by the Mississippi RiverKings and the Colorado Eagles, as the RiverKings defeated the Eagles 3-2 in Central Hockey League action at the DeSoto Civic Center. The RiverKings broke a two-game losing streak with the victory, but more impressively stopped the Eagles' season-beginning eight-game winning skein.

Four RiverKings had two-point nights in the victory. Jeff Nelson and Louis Dumont scored single goals and each added an assist for Mississippi (3-4-0), while David Simoes and Dallas Costanzo contributed with a pair of helpers apiece.

Adam Smyth provided the game-winning margin with a back-hander from in front of the Colorado crease about four minutes into the second period. That came after Dumont had given the RiverKings a 2-1 lead late in the first period with a shorthanded goal with Derek Landmesser providing the assist on the goal.

Matt Pierce, Jeff Alcombrack and Brad Bonello also scored for the RiverKings. Colorado's offense came from Scott Polaski (power play) and Riley Nelson (shorthanded).

Kevin Beech made 23 saves in posting his third win of the season (3-3-0), while Colorado goalie Andrew Penner made 28 saves, but allowed six goals in the loss (4-1-0).

The six goals set a season high for scoring by the RiverKings, who also won by their largest margin of the year.

Next up for the RiverKings will be a home game Friday, November 7th against the Rocky Mountain Rage at 7:05 PM. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster and the DCC box office. Season and group tickets are available through the RiverKings' front office at 662-342-1755.
