November 1, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
New Mexico Scorpions News Release
[BROOMFIELD, Col.] Chris Robertson's hat trick led the Scorpions to a 6-3 victory over Rocky Mountain Saturday night. The win snapped a four game winless streak for New Mexico.
With the teams' play even through forty minutes, the Scorps exploded for three goals in the final frame. Robertson gave his team back the lead 12-minutes into the period. He finished his hat trick with a rebound goal at the 17:31 mark. The Scorpions finished the night's scoring as Craig Macdonald used a burst of speed to get a breakaway goal.
For the first time in the last five games, the Scorpions got on the board first. Seth Leonard put in a rebound goal from behind the net. Leonard grabbed the lose puck even with the goal line and was able to put enough spin on the puck to angle it in.
The Rage stormed back with a Daymen Rycroft power play goal at 12:14 of the first period. Rocky Mountain then grabbed the lead with a slap shot from Nick Harloff.
Tyler Butler increased the Rage lead to two goals with his first goal of the season 30-seconds into overtime. On the next shift the Scorpions answered when Chris Robertson ripped a snap shot past goaltender Marty Magers.
The Scorpions reclaimed the lead on another hardworking tally. Chris Robertson took a cross check from Rage defenseman Robert Chappell which knocked down Magers. The puck was moved to Torren Delforte who banked the puck of Magers who was inside the net, tying the game at three.
New Mexico returns home Wednesday, November 5th to face Corpus Christi. It is a "Wild Wednesday" with a retro theme. Wear your favorite team's retro jersey and get a ticket for only $5.
