Mississippi RiverKings News Release

The 2001-2002 Central Hockey League Rookie of the Year has returned to where he started his professional career.

The Mississippi RiverKings today announced the signing of goalie Sebastien Centomo, who went 16-1-0 with a 2.09 GAA and a .934 save percentage with the team in his first season.

Centomo's performance for Memphis vaulted him into the American Hockey League later that season with the St. John's Maple Leafs. With the Baby Leafs, he compiled a 12-7-4 record with a 2.52 GAA and a .926 save percentage. Centomo earned the Leafs' starting job for the 2002 Calder Cup Playoffs and led them to the second round.

The highlight of Centomo's rookie year in pro hockey, however, came in Toronto. He made his NHL debut with the Toronto Maple Leafs in a two-period relief appearance. At the age of 20, Centomo had reached the top of a mountain that many hockey players spend their entire lives trying to reach.

RiverKings fans remember Centomo, now 26, most recently in an Oklahoma City Blazers uniform. He spent last season and part of the 2005-06 campaign with the Blazers. In 52 games during that time, he went 28-19-2 with a 3.09 GAA and a .908 save percentage.

To make room on the roster for Centomo, the RiverKings today waived goalie Nick Boucher. They also waived forward Pekka Rautio today.

As for who will start Friday's road game against the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs, Head Coach Kevin McClelland said he had not made a decision.

Coverage of Friday's game begins at 7 p.m. on The Big 990 KWAM. Fans can watch the action on the Internet by surfing to http://www.nifty-tv.com/chl/.
