Laredo Bucks News Release
AMARILLO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League shutout the Amarillo Gorillas 6-0 at the Amarillo Civic Center Tuesday afternoon. Rookie goaltender Kevin Beech picked up the shutout his first start as a Buck making 14 saves. The Bucks finished their season opening road trip a perfect 3-0. The Bucks are 3-0 for the first time since the 2003-04 season.
The Bucks came out hard early and took a 1-0 lead at 5:14 in the first period when rookie Matt Summers scored his first professional goal off of a nice pass from David Walker to beat Gorillas goaltender Dan Bauer. The Bucks outshot the Gorillas (0-2-1) 11-4 in the first period.
The Bucks made is 3-0 at 10:19 of the second period when David Walker scored a power-play goal off of a rebound in front of Bauer. The officials first gave the goal to Chris Korchinski, but changed it after the game. It was Walker's first goal of the season. Rane Carnegie and Brent MacSween picked up assists for Laredo. The Bucks outshot the Gorillas 8-6 in the second period.
The Bucks scored three goals in the third period to break it open starting with Adam Rivet getting his second of the year at 3:15 making it 4-0 Bucks. Hiebert and Jeff Bes picked up assists. Laredo made it 5-0 when Brent MacSween scored his league-leading third power-play goal of the season at 7:33, with Korchinski and Walker picking up assists. The Bucks ended the scoring at 13:01 when Summers scored his second goal of the game, this one on the power play giving Laredo a 6-0 lead. The Bucks outshot Amarillo 28-14.
The Bucks will host division foe Corpus Christi on Friday night for the home opener. The puck will drop at 7:30. Tickets are still available by logging onto ticketmaster.com, or calling 718-BUCK.

*Bucks rookie defenseman David Victor was scratched for the third straight game due to immigration papers not being ready
