Youngstown SteelHounds News Release

YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO - The Youngstown SteelHounds are proud to announce that Andy Franck has been named the Oakley-CHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending October 21, 2007.

Franck was outstanding in net during two road victories for the SteelHounds, Friday in Oklahoma City and Saturday in Mississippi. The Lakewood, Ohio native stopped 65 of 70 shots he faced for a .929 save percentage while carrying a 2.51 goals against average. In Friday's 4-2 victory over the Blazers, Franck stopped 37 shots including 15 of 16 in the third period. The 6-0, 185-pound goaltender faced 17 total power plays in the two games and allowed just two power play goals.

"Very well deserved," said Head Coach Kevin Kaminski. "He made the big saves when we needed them. He made himself big in the net and kept rebounds under control. It was not the number of shots we wanted to give up, but that's his job and he got the job done."

Franck becomes the second player in franchise history to win player/goalie of the week honors for the opening week of the season. Last season Chris Richards took home player of the week honors to kick off the season.

The Hounds will stay on the road as they take on the Corpus Christi Rayz at 8:05pm on Saturday, October 27th. All SteelHounds games are available on ESPN Radio 1240 and SteelHounds.com.
