September 26, 2002 - ECHL (ECHL)
Richmond Renegades News Release

The defending CHL champion Memphis RiverKings have announced dates of availability for the sale of individual game tickets for the upcoming 2002-2003 season.

Tickets for the opening night championship celebration on October 18 vs. Bossier-Shreveport will go on sale this Saturday from noon until 2 p.m. at the DeSoto Civic Center. The RiverKings are teaming with the DeSoto Youth Theatre to offer tickets for that game at a special price of $2 off. Individual tickets for all 32 home games go on sale Monday, Sept. 30 at 10 a.m. through TicketMaster.

The RiverKings will also contribute a large percentage of the proceeds from the Saturday afternoon sales to the DeSoto Youth Theatre who will be the featured non-profit organization for the opening night game. $3 from each opening night ticket sold during the special event will go to benefit the DeSoto Youth Theatre.

Be sure to come out for the Saturday afternoon ticket-sales kick-off celebration as RiverKings players and staff will be on hand to sign autographs and meet the fans during the special event. Characters from the D.Y.T. play Annie Warbuck's - The Sequel will take part in the fun as well.

The RiverKings are also arranging to make that first home game a championship celebration at the DeSoto Civic Center. The team will hold a championship banner raising ceremony and will also present the players with their championship rings. A spectacular fireworks extravaganza will also highlight the October 18 game as Memphis takes on the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs at 7:05.

"We're going to make opening night a huge celebration for our champions so come out this Saturday and meet the team," RiverKings president and general manager Robin Costa said. "It will be great to pack the arena October 18th as we honor a great hockey team and a great season with some wonderful ceremonies and an amazing fireworks display."

The DeSoto Youth theatre is the featured non-profit organization for the first game. They will be providing the National Anthem singer and intermission entertainment. National Broadway touring star, Southaven native and DeSotoYouth Theatre member Ashley Wieronski will sing the National Anthem acapella before the game.

"The DeSoto Youth Theatre is a special program and provides an outlet for children in the community," RiverKings general manager and president Robin Costa said. "DeSoto County has a lot of things for children to do as far as sports, academics and creative learning projects, but this is a unique way for children to display their talents. It's a different niche for kids. It's one more great thing for kids to do."

For more information on the great opening night championship celebration on October 18 contact the RiverKings office at (662) 342-1755. Fans can also call TicketMaster at (901) 525-1515 for individual game tickets.
