Current and Former Chiefs Attending Training Camps Across the Continent

Johnstown, PA- With just over two weeks before the Johnstown Chiefs home opener, several current and former Chiefs players are attending NHL and AHL training camps across North America.

The Chiefs NHL affiliate Calgary Flames began training camp over two weeks ago with four former and current Chiefs on their roster. Forwards Ryan Shmyr and Shaun Sutter were in the camp as were goaltenders Dany Sabourin and rookie Peter Aubry. Shymr, Sabourin and Aubry were all sent to the Chiefs AHL affiliate in Saint John, New Brunswick earlier this week. Sutter is injured and will remain in Calgary while he undergoes rehabilitation.

The Chiefs top three leading scorers from last year are all under AHL contract and are doing very well in camps. Forwards Eric Schneider and David Gove joined former Chiefs head coach Scott Allen with the Florida Panthers AHL affiliate San Antonio Rampage. Forward Dan Carlson is now under contract with the AHL Norfolk Admirals, an affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks and the ECHL's Roanoke Express.

The Saint John Flames have invited several Chiefs players to their camp. Defensemen Jeff Sullivan, Ian Manzano, and Pierre- Luc Courchense are all in Flames camp as are forwards Jason Spence, Sam St. Pierre, Shawn Mather, Steve Hildenbrand and Dominic Roger. Dany Dallaire, Lou Mastromarino, and Aubry are the goaltenders in Flames camp.

The Chiefs also have several players in various other AHL camps. J.F. Boutin is in the Cleveland Barons camp, Mike Rodrigues is in Portland, Maine with the Pirates, Phil Roy is with the Hershey Bears, and Jim Leger, Brent Bilodeau, and goaltender Ghyslain Rousseau are all with the Binghamton Senators.
