LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford RiverHawks have activated first baseman Todd Martin and placed pitcher Jose Mateo on the 14-day disabled list.

Martin began the year on the DL because of groin strain. He is in his fourth professional season. Martin began his career with Gary of the independent Northern League in 2006. He was signed that season by Cleveland and spent nearly three years in that organization. In 2007, Martin hit .360 for Mahoning Valley to win the short-season Class A New York-Penn League batting title. His .533 slugging percentage was also the best in the league.

Last season, Martin hit a composite .271 with three home runs and 16 RBI in 36 games with high A Kinston of the Carolina League, low A Lake County of the South Atlantic League and Rookie-level Winter Haven of the Gulf Coast League. Martin, who will turn 26 on June 25, has 1-Year status in the Frontier League.

Mateo was placed on the DL because of forearm tendonitis. He had no record, no saves and a 4.50 ERA in six appearances.
