RiverDogs split four-game trip

Richmond RiverDogs News Release


The Richmond RiverDogs are now 4-2-1 after going 1-1 last week. The ‘Dogs will be home for five of their next seven games. Richmond is third in the Eastern Division with nine points, one behind division leaders Danbury and Elmira. The ‘Dogs host Elmira Wednesday in a 10:30 AM School Day game before hitting the road for a pair of weekend tilts at Adirondack.

Wednesday, November 3 vs. Elmira 10:30 AM

GAME NOTES: The third of 17 meetings, and the first of eight in Richmond. The ‘Dogs and Jackals have split two meetings. ‘Dogs were 7-1-2 vs. Elmira at the Coliseum last year. Greg Koehler has five points vs. the ‘Dogs. Ryan Prentice and Mark Turner have three vs. the Jackals.

Friday, November 5 @ Adirondack 7:05 PM

GAME NOTES: The second of 17 meetings and the first of eight at Adirondack. Richmond beat the Frostbite 3-1 in the first meeting. Francis Belanger scored two goals for Richmond, Hugo Belanger scored the Frostbite goal. Richmond was 11-1 at Adirondack last season.

Saturday, November 6 @ Adirondack 7:05 PM GAME NOTES: The third of 17 meetings and the second of eight at Adirondack. The two clubs meet four times in 19 days. Frostbite plays their next five games on the road. Adirondack has scored 18 goals in their last four games after scoring just eight in their first five.

Friday, October 29 @ Elmira LOSS 6-4

GAME NOTES: The ‘Dogs fell behind 2-0 in the first period but rallied back to take the lead. Elmira tied the game late in the second period and went ahead to stay with two power play goals in the third. Greg Koehler scored twice for the Jackals. Elmira was 3-7 on the power play.

Saturday, October 30 @ Danbury WIN 5-2 GAME NOTES: The ‘Dogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period and coasted to a win over the Trashers. J.F. Picard scored two goals and Mark Turner added a shorthanded goal. Ryan McIntosh made 30 saves. David Hymovitz chipped in two assists. The clubs combined for 83 PIM.

DOG BITES: The 'Dogs finished a four game road trip with a 2-2 record. The 'Dogs became the first visiting team to win in Danbury and were the first club to scored a shorthanded goal against the Trashers. Jonathan Gagnon had four assists in two games last week. The 'Dogs had a string of 20 straight penalty kills end Friday at Elmira. The 'Dogs have picked up 101 PIM in two games vs. Danbury. Richmond has 107 PIM in their other five games combined. The 'Dogs play five of their next seven games at home. Ryan McIntosh has won his first two starts in net for the 'Dogs. Richmond is five games through a stretch of eight straight games vs. Eastern Division clubs (the 'Dogs are 3-2 vs. the East). Defensemen Dan Rohanna and Michal Pscheidt made their RiverDog debuts Friday in Elmira. The 'Dogs have allowed 30 or more shots in four straight games after holding their first three opponents under 30. Richmond has fired 30 or more shots on goal in six of seven games. The ‘Dogs waived the UHL rights to Shawn Scanzano who had been on team suspension. Francis Belanger is tied for eighth in the league in scoring. Ryan McIntosh is second in goals against average.
