Moline, IL – The Mallards won back-to-back games for the first time this season with a dramatic 3-2 win in Missouri on Friday and a dominating 6-2 victory over Kansas City during the Mallards Home Opener.

Quad City overcame two separate Missouri leads on Friday to win 3-2. Jonathan Gagnon and Joe Dusbabek each scored their first goals as Mallards in the third period to complete the comeback.

On Saturday, the Mallards began the home portion of their 2004-05 campaign in grand style with a 6-2 win over Kansas City. Gagnon continued his hot play with a hat trick and two assists. The line of Gagnon with Greg Barber and Jason Deskins combined for five goals and seven assists in their

home debut.

The Mallards travel to Rockford and Muskegon this week seeking revenge. The IceHogs beat Quad City 8-4 on October 15th. Wednesday's match-up will be the first meeting between the teams since the loss. The Mallards are in Muskegon on Friday to take on the Fury. Muskegon beat the Mallards 4-1 on October 22nd.

Sunday, November 7 Rockford at Quad City 3:00 p.m.

The Mallards are back home on Saturday to take on the Danbury Trashers. The Trashers feature former Mallard Bruce Richardson and anti-Mallard Jim Duhart. The November 6th match-up with Danbury marks the lone appearance of the Trashers at The MARK during the 2004-05 season. The IceHogs make their first trip of the season to The MARK on Sunday.

Standings

The Mallards are fifth in the Western Division with a 3-3-0 record. The Mallards have two opportunities to close the gap on the first-place Rockford IceHogs (5-1-1) this week.

Gagnon Makes His Mark at The MARK

Jonathan Gagnon's home debut with the Mallards was certainly a memorable one. The second-year winger from Montreal, Quebec recorded a hat trick and two assists in his first appearance on home ice. The hat trick was the first of Gagnon's professional career and the first of 2004-05 for the Mallards.

Gagnon began his big weekend with a game-tying goal on Friday in Missouri. The six-point weekend gives Gagnon seven points (four goals and three assists) on the season.

Barber Trims Otters and Outlaws

Greg Barber made quite a splash in his first two games as a Mallard. Barber scored a goal in the first period of Friday's win vs. Missouri. On Saturday, Barber had three assists in the Mallards home opener. On the weekend, Barber recorded a plus-6 rating with a goal and three helpers.

Deskins Take Over Scoring Lead

Jason Deskins recorded four points (two goals and two assists) on Saturday to take over the team lead in scoring. Deskins has recorded eight points (four goals and four assists) in six games as a Mallard. He has scored in four the Mallards first six games.

Mallards Welcome Another MacLean

A.J. MacLean made a big splash in his pro debut. The rookie center scored the first home goal of 2004-05 in the Mallards 6-2 victory over Kansas City. MacLean's crash and bang playing style won over Mallards fans almost instantly.

MacLean is the son of former Mallards head coach Paul MacLean. The elder MacLean is currently an assistant coach with the National Hockey League's Mighty Ducks of Anaheim.

Last Week's Games

Friday, October 29-Quad City 3 at Missouri 2

The Mallards staged a third period comeback for the second time this season to defeat the Otters. The teams traded first period goals as Bob Rapoza scored for Missouri at the 13:00 mark of the first. Greg Barber answered Rapoza's marker with his first goal as a Mallard.

The second period was played scoreless until the final buzzer when Lars Pettersen flipped a shot past Jeff Reynaert on a Missouri power play. The goal gave the Otters a 2-1 lead heading into the final frame.

In the third, the Mallards scored twice to secure their second victory of the year. Jonathan Gagnon scored at the 7:10 mark for his first goal as a Mallard. Joe Dusbabek recorded the game-winner on a Mallards power play at 14:47 of the third.

Saturday, October 30-Kansas City 2 at Quad City 6

The Mallards followed an emotional opening ceremony with a supercharged first period. For the first time in two weeks, the Mallards opened the scoring when A.J. MacLean scored with 9:19 gone in the first. Jason Deskins recorded his first goal of the night 2:24 later to give the Mallards a 2-0 edge after the first period.

Jonathan Gagnon opened the second by scoring just 20 second into the frame. Deskins added his second goal of the evening with a shorthanded marker at 5:58 of the period to stake the Mallards to a 4-0 lead. Kansas City's Jimmy Callahan scored with 5:36 left in the period to ruin Jeff Reynaert's bid for his first shutout of the season.

In the third, Gagnon would add two more goals to record the Mallards first hat trick of 2004-05. Kansas City's Steve Yetman closed the scoring with a power-play goal with 4:25 left in the third period. The 6-2 win gives the Mallards a 3-3-0 record on the season.

Player of the Week

Jonathan Gagnon is the Mallards nominee for UHL Player of the Week. The second-year winger recorded four goals and a pair of assists for six points in two games this weekend.

Goaltender of the Week

Jeff Reynaert is the Mallards nominee for UHL Goaltender of the Week. Reynaert stopped 17 of 19 shots on Friday in a 3-2 victory over Missouri. On Saturday, Reynaert turned aside 24 shots in a 6-2 win over Kansas City.
