Charleston RiverDogs News Release

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Following a week on the road in Maryland, the Charleston RiverDogs happily return to Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park. The Savannah Sand Gnats (Mets affiliate) visit the Lowcountry for four games followed by an off day Monday, and then three games against the Lexington Legends (Royals affiliate). Both Savannah and Lexington will be making their second and final visits to The Joe this season.

Thursday, August 6, 7:05 pm: This is the eighth of 10 Thirsty Thursdays during the season. Enjoy "Happy Hour" with $1 beers and music in the Ashley View Pub presented by Budweiser. DJ Natty Heavy will once again spin popular tunes throughout the game, presented by 95SX. Every Thursday, the RiverDogs pay homage to the standard red Solo cup, everybody's favorite beverage receptacle. During the Seventh Inning Stretch after "Take Me Out to the Ball Game," the Red Solo Cup song will play in the stadium and all fans in attendance will toast to the red Solo cup.

Friday, August 7, 7:05 pm: Help us honor Ed Creech as he is inducted into the Professional Baseball Scouts Hall of Fame. Creech, a native of Columbia, S.C., helped mold the likes of J.D. Drew, Shane Victorino, Javier Vazquez, and Milton Bradley. Friday is the ninth ISHPI Red Shirt Friday of the season and is presented by WEZL, with postgame fireworks over the scenic Ashley River presented by Home Telecom. Support the military by wearing red and when you come to the box office, you can receive $1 off your ticket. Fans will then have the option to donate that dollar to the Wounded Warrior Corps. The RiverDogs will once again wear their special red jerseys as a show of support for our military.

Saturday, August 8, 6:05 pm: Saturday is Charleston Baseball Hall of Fame Night. Help us honor Pete Ayoub, Lee Curtis, and Coach John Chalus as they are inducted into the Charleston Baseball Hall of Fame. Former Summerville head football coach John McKissick will be in attendance for Saturday's Summerville & Moncks Corner Night at The Joe. McKissick recently announced his retirement after working as the head coach since 1952. He led Summerville to 10 state championships and in 2012, became the first American football coach in history to win 600 games. In addition to Charleston Baseball Hall of Fame Night, Saturday is also Pirates & Princesses Night presented by 101.7 Chuck FM and Blackbeard's Cove. A special package for this night includes two tickets, two food vouchers, and a tiara or pirate hat for $25. Come out dressed like your favorite pirate or princess. You do not want to miss any of the fun! Ever dream of rounding third base and heading for home at The Joe? Saturday night is another chance to make that dream come true as kids are able to run around the diamond every Saturday, with the Postgame Kids Run the Bases program presented by CPI Security Systems.

Sunday, August 9, 5:05 pm: Brush up on your literature, as Sunday is Library Night at The Joe, sponsored by Boeing. We will honor all students from the Lowcountry who completed their summer reading! The first 1,000 kids to pass through the gates will receive a free book courtesy of Boeing. Tonight, we also celebrate with fans from Daniel Island. It is also Boeing Community Night as Boeing says "thanks" to the Lowcountry. Every Sunday at The Joe is a Charleston County Parks and Recreation Commission Kids Club Sunday, presented by Y102.5.
