Rome, GA - The Savannah Sand Gnats defeated the Rome Braves Monday night at State Mutual Stadium 7-4 before a crowd of 1,625. .

The Sand Gnats grabbed an early lead with two runs in the third inning on Jonathan Johnson's run scoring base hit and Luis Guillorme's bunt single to score the second run. Rome tied the game in the fourth on Matt Tellor's single to score the first run. Joseph Daris then reached on an error allowing Tanner Murphy to cross the plate to tie the game. The Braves took a 4-2 lead in the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Tanner Murphy and a wild pitch to plate the second run of the inning. Savannah regained the lead with three runs in the seventh for the 5-4 advantage. After two outs Eudor Garcia singled home two runs and Michael Katz broke the tie with a base hit scoring the third run of the frame. The Sand Gnats added two insurance runs in the eighth and held on for the 7-4 win.

Eddy Villasmil (3-0) gets the win in relief while Rome starter Yean Carlos Gil (1-5) is tagged with the loss. Alberto Baldonado (4) earns the save.
