TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: The sixth of eight meetings and the third of four here. Richmond is 2-3 vs. the Generals, 1-1 in Richmond. Kevin St. Jacques and Jay Murphy have six points vs. Flint. Martin Woods has eight points vs. the ‘Dogs. Flint has out-scored Richmond 10-2 in the third period. The RiverDogs are now second in the Eastern Conference, three points behind first place Flint. Tonight's match-up features five of the UHL's top-20 scorers.

LAST ACTION: The RiverDogs drilled Elmira 5-0 here Wednesday. Darren Wetherill and Jay Murphy each scored two goals. Olivier Fillion had a goal and two assists. Maxime Gingras earned his second shutout of the season. The ‘Dogs out-shot the Jackals 33-23. The two clubs combined for 98 PIM. Flint lost 2-1 at Adirondack Wednesday. The IceHawks scored twice in the first period. Jim Duhart scored the Flint goal shorthanded. The two clubs combined for only 46 shots on goal. Flint had just two in the first period.

'DOG BITES: Richmond has signed left wing Eric Perricone. He joins the ‘Dogs from Miami of the WHA2. Perricone was second in that league in scoring (for more information please see player bios). Richmond snapped an eight game winless streak Wednesday. The ‘Dogs are looking for their first back to back wins since December 19-20. Richmond has scored power play goals in five straight games, the longest streak of the season. Richmond did not allow a power play goal Wednesday. Opponents had scored on the power play in 11 straight games. This is game eight of a 10 game RiverDogs homestand (Richmond is 1-4-2). Richmond had six games remaining with now-defunct Columbus (three home and three road, including a visit to Columbus next Friday). David Brosseau has points in three straight games. Jay Murphy has four goals in the last two games. Three ‘Dogs (Kevin St. Jacques, Jay Murphy, and J.J. Wrobel) will play in the UHL All Star Game. The ‘Dogs traded Jeff Ewasko to Rockford for future considerations yesterday. Murphy is 16th in the league in scoring. St. Jacques is 20th.

GENERALS NOTES: The Generals lead the league in penalty killing and are second in PIM. Jim Duhart is second in the league in goals and fifth in points. Bobby Reynolds is tied for 11th in points. Martin Woods is 19th and leads UHL defensemen.

AROUND THE UHL: The Columbus Stars suspended operations yesterday. The league will announce a new schedule Monday. All Stars are now free agents. There are four other games in the UHL tonight: Port Huron at Adirondack, Quad City at Ft. Wayne, Rockford at Kalamazoo, and Missouri at Muskegon. Elmira, scheduled to play at Columbus, is idle.

NEXT UP: The ‘Dogs battle Flint Saturday at 7:35. The RiverDogs will open the upper bowl Saturday in a effort to set a new UHL single game attendance record. Upper bowl seats will be $7.50, including the Coliseum user fee and all fans will receive a free t-shirt. There will be a free post-game skate for all fans with RiverDogs players following Saturday's game.
