IceHogs Clear Roster Space
January 9, 2004 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Rockford IceHogs News Release
Rockford, Ill.- In order to clear roster space, the Rockford IceHogs, proud members of the United Hockey League, have traded defenseman Anthony Cappelletti to the Elmira Jackals and have waived defenseman Gavin Hodgson. Hogs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Mark Bernard made the announcement on Friday. On Thursday, the IceHogs acquired forward Jeff Ewasko and defenseman Gary Ricciardi creating a log jam on the Hogs roster forcing the club to open up two roster spaces. Cappelletti was sent to Rockford exactly a month to the day from the Missouri River Otters. In exchange for the defenseman, the IceHogs will receive a draft pick from Elmira in this spring's North American Amateur draft.
Hodgson was one of four IceHogs players to have appeared in every game this season. The blueliner had 0g-1a-1pt, 52 PIM's and registered a plus/minus rating of -12 in 33 games with the IceHogs. Cappelletti in 13 games with the Hogs had 0g-3a-3pts and 22 PIM's with a -1.
Next Home Game: Wednesday, January 14th vs. Muskegon Fury. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. The Fury return to the MetroCentre in another Western Conference showdown. Wednesday at the big orange box with the IceHogs means another WXRX $1 Beer Night brought to you by the Rock Station 104.9 FM.
