Charleston RiverDogs News Release
CHARLESTON, SC - The Charleston RiverDogs and the South Atlantic League are inviting fans to vote for the representatives in the upcoming 2008 SAL All-Star Game.
For the second straight season, the league is including fans in the All-Star selection process. In years past, voting was limited to SAL managers, coaches and members of the media.
Fans who would like to vote are requested to e-mail the RiverDogs media relations office at pr1@riverdogs.com nominating the players and managers whom they feel are most deserving of the honor.
Selections can be made from the following categories (for each the Northern & Southern Divisions): manager, pitcher, catcher, first baseman, second baseman, third baseman, short stop, utility infielder (2), right fielder, center fielder, left fielder, utility outfielder (2), designated hitter, and trainer.
All submissions should be e-mailed by May 28.
"Being selected to the South Atlantic League Southern or Northern Division All-Star Team is a special honor for the league's young players, and the SAL and the RiverDogs want fans to have a voice in the selection process," said RiverDogs general manager Dave Echols.
This year's All-Star Game will be played in Greensboro, NC at NewEnergy Park, home of the Greensboro Grasshoppers, on June 17. RiverDogs All-Stars from the 2007 game included the game's MVP Mitch Hilligoss, pitcher Jonathan Hovis, short stop Eduardo Nunez and pitcher David Robertson.
