The Crawdads Sweep the Braves

Rome, GA - The Hickory Crawdads defeated the Rome Braves Monday night in front of 2,503 fans by a final score of 7-5 extending the Rome losing streak to seven games and making it the first time the Braves have lost every game of a home stand consisting of four or more games.

The Crawdads took the lead in the second inning when Marcus Davis hit a three run home run to go up on the Braves 3-0. Rome would answer back in the bottom of the second with two runs on RBI singles from David Berres and Cole Miles. The Braves would take the lead 4-3 in the bottom of the third when Jason Heyward reached base on a single and Freddie Freeman reached on a fielding error. Both would later score on an RBI double by Cody Johnson and a sacrifice fly by Benji Johnson. Rome would add to the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning when David Berres scored on a Jason Heyward groundout to make the score 5-3. Hickory would take the lead and keep it, in the fifth inning when four runs crossed the plate highlighted by a two RBI Bobby Spain double.

Matt McSwain gets the win (2-0) for Hickory, Moises Robles the save (5), and Scott Diamond takes the loss for the Braves (3-1).

ROME ROSTER MOVE: The Rome Braves announce pitcher Scott Diamond has been sent to Myrtle Beach of the Carolina league. The Braves receive pitcher Jaye Chapman from the Danville Roster. Chapman split time with Danville and Rome last season. He was 3-1 with the Rome Braves in 20 relief appearances.
