River Rats to Offer Blood Donors Incentive over Labor Day Weekend

The American Red Cross Blood Services, New York-Penn Region today announced that the Albany River Rats will provide one free ticket to their October 15th home opener for all blood donors who present to give blood at any of the Capital Region Labor Day blood drives being conducted between Friday, September 3rd and Monday, September 6th. These drives include:

Friday, September 3

Red Cross Donor Center, 33 Everett Rd., Albany, 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Cathedral of All Saints, 62 South Swan St., Albany, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Saturday, September 4

Red Cross Donor Center, 33 Everett Rd., Albany, 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Red Cross Donor Center, Crosstown Plaza, Route 7, Schenectady, 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Monday, September 6

"We have heard the call for blood donors from the Red Cross and recognize how important a healthy community blood supply is," commented Fred Chick, Vice President of Corporate Sponsorships, Albany River Rats. "We hope this special offer can serve as the extra push that some people need to come out and give blood. It's a win-win situation for blood donors and patients in need of blood." The home opener is scheduled for Friday, October 15, at 7:00 PM at the Pepsi Arena. The River Rats will host the Binghamton Senators.

We are pleased to have the River Rats help us again to meet the increasing demand for blood in our community," said Lillian Sherry, Albany District Director, American Red Cross Blood Services, New York-Penn Region.

All current eligible and new donors are urged to schedule and keep appointments to donate blood today by calling 1-800-GIVE LIFE (1-800-448-3543) or visiting www.DonateBloodNow.org . Anyone 17 years or older, weighing at least 110 pounds, and in general good health may be eligible to donate blood. Identification is required at the time of donation to give blood.
