
Griffins announce preseason slate

Grand Rapids, Mich. â The Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League on Wednesday announced their 2004-05 preseason schedule.
After opening their ninth training camp on Wednesday, Sept. 29, the Griffins will get their first taste of competition during an intersquad scrimmage with the Cleveland Barons on Tuesday, Oct. 5 at 7:30 p.m. at The Summit in Dimondale, Mich., located off I-96 at exit 98B near Lansing. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for kids 18 and younger, and are available at the door that night or by calling 517-319-1000.
Grand Rapids' subsequent preseason schedule will consist of a pair of road games. On Thursday, Oct. 7, the Griffins will battle the Chicago Wolves in an 8 p.m. EDT start at the West Meadows Ice Arena in Rolling Meadows, Ill. They'll complete their short slate on Friday, Oct. 8, versus the defending Calder Cup champion Milwaukee Admirals, in an 8 p.m. EDT faceoff at the Wilson Park Ice Arena in Milwaukee. Tickets for both games will be available at the door on game night ($5 in Chicago, TBD in Milwaukee).
Grand Rapids will christen the 2004-05 AHL regular season on Friday, Oct. 15, by hosting the Cleveland Barons for Griffins Opening Night, presented by Foremost Insurance. Game time at Van Andel Arena is set for 7:30 p.m.
Griffins full-season, mini-season and group ticket packages are currently on sale through the team's office at (800) 2-HOCKEY, while single-game tickets will go on sale later this month.
