River Otters Defeat Outlaws 3-0; Tapp Records Shut-Out, Jackman Gets Assist

February 5, 2005 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Missouri River Otters News Release

Jason Tapp collected his league-leading sixth shut-out as the Missouri River Otters skated to a 3-0 victory against the Kansas City Outlaws Saturday night at the Family Arena. 5,280 fans watched the game, the largest crowd to attend a River Otters game in two seasons.

It took all of 40 seconds for Barret Jackman to record his first point as a River Otter. Mat Snesrud gave Jackman a pass at the left point, and Jackman ripped a slap-shot that was deflected by Charlie Blyth and beat Outlaws goaltender Tim Knudsen between the pads.

Both goaltenders continued to shine in the second period, and the game went into the final period with the Otters up 1-0.

Missouri extended their lead thirteen minutes into the final period. Barrie Moore streaked up the left wing and was robbed on a great save by Knudsen, but Lars Pettersen fired home the rebound for his 14th goal of the season. Mark Odut added an empty-netter, and the River Otters skated off with the 3-0 victory. Tapp made 33 shots for his sixth shut-out of the season, while Knudsen made 32 saves in defeat.

The River Otters play the Muskegon Fury Sunday afternoon at the Family Arena. The puck drops at 1:05 PM CST, and all the action can be heard on KSLQ 104.5 and the B2 webcast at www.riverotters.com.
