TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: The second of four meetings and the second of two here. Richmond is 1-0 vs. the Generals. The âDogs were 4-1-1 at home vs. Flint last season. David Hymovitz has two goals vs. Flint. Rob Valicevic and Jim Duhart have two goals each vs. the âDogs. The âDogs are third in the Eastern Division, two points back of Flint and Missouri in the wild card race. The Generals are third in the Central, eight points behind Kalamazoo.
LAST ACTION: The âDogs beat Flint last night 6-4. The Generals jumped out to an early 1-0 lead but Richmond scored four straight goals and carried a 4-1 advantage into the third period. Flint scored three times in the third and trailed 5-4 before the âDogs put it away. David Hymovitz scored twice for Richmond. Dennis Vial and Ryan Prentice had three point nights. Jim Duhart and Rob Valicevic each scored twice for the Generals. The âDogs out-shot Flint 16-3 in the first period and went 3-8 on the power play.
'DOG BITES: Richmond is 1-1 on a six game homestand. Following this homestand the âDogs play 15 of 18 games on the road. The âDogs are 5-5-1 vs. the Central Division. David Hymovitz is tied for seventh in the league in scoring. He is fifth in assists. He has four goals in his last two games. Trevor Senn is fourth in the league in penalty minutes. He remains on IR. Kyle Sheen leads the UHL in rookie penalty minutes. Tonight's match-up features three of the UHL's seven top scorers. The âDogs are six for their last 21 (28.6%) on the power play. and 23 for their last 26 (88.5%) on the penalty kill. 10 of the 19 RiverDogs on the active roster joined the club since the start of the season.
GENERALS NOTES: Bobby Reynolds is third in the league in scoring and is tied for the league lead in assists. Rob Valicevic is tied for fourth in points. Kris Waltze is fifth in penalty minutes. Both Flint goalies are in the league top 10 in goals against average. Dan McIntyre is 10th and Marco Emond is eighth. Tonight is game two of a six game road trip. Flint is 4-6-1 vs. the Eastern Division. The Generals Kevin Kerr became minor league hockey's all-time career leading goal scorer earlier this season, surpassing former Richmond Renegade Scott Gruhl. Flint is third in the league in power play, tied for fourth in penalty killing, and second in penalty minutes.
NEXT UP: The âDogs host Danbury next Wednesday at 7:35 PM. NASCAR Rookie of the Year driver Kasey Kahne will be on hand and their will be a jersey auction following the game.
