Missouri River Otters News Release

Backstopped by terrific goaltending from Kevin Reiter, the Missouri River Otters blanked the Flint Generals 2-0 Saturday night in front of 8,517 fans at the Family Arena. It was the largest crowd to witness a River Otters home-game in five years.

The River Otters got on the board with a short-handed tally five minutes into the opening period. Jamal Mayers intercepted a Generals pass, skated up the right wing, and rifled a wrist-shot over the glove of Nathan Grobins for his 3rd goal in four games.

Missouri extended their lead in the second period. After receiving a nice pass from Mike Dombkiewicz, Justin Quenneville made a nice move to bring the puck in front of the net and he snapped a shot behind Grobins. It was Quenneville's first goal since recently returning from an injury, and his 16th on the season.

Neither team scored in the third period, and the River Otters skated off with the 2-0 victory. Reiter made 27 saves for his fourth shutout of the season, while Grobins made 27 saves in defeat.

The River Otters host the Generals Sunday afternoon at the Family Arena. The puck drops at 1:05 CST, and all the action can be heard on KSLQ 104.5 and the River Otters B2 Webcast, which can be found at www.riverotters.com!
