Kansas City Outlaws News Release

Despite all the economic doom and gloom you've read or heard about the city of Flint, Michigan, tonight the Flint Generals had to be longing for home. Given a choice between giving Flint's plus-size homeboy Michael Moore a sponge bath or facing the Kansas City Outlaws in Kemper Arena, tonight the Generals' choice would clearly be: pass warm water and wash cloth.

The Generals' first visit to Kemper Arena could be called the Jason Ruff show. Ruffer amassed 5 points on 2 goals and 3 assists in leading the Outlaws to a 6-4 home victory over Flint.

The Kemper faithful were on their feet early in the first period when rookie sensation Mark Lee beat General netminder Marco Emond for his 12th goal of the year (click for video). Ruff picked up the assist.

When Flint's Mike Tobin was called for tripping at 5:05, the Outlaws took the power play and made it count. Ruff, along with Matthieu Descoteaux, assisted on Joe Seroski's team-leading 36th goal at 6:10 (click for video). Seroski's goal was his 17th power play tally.

The carnage continued with Mike Murray's goal at 8:05 (click for video). Muzzy was assited by Jimmy Callahan and Derek Kern as the Outlaws took the 3-0 lead.

Flint showed a little spark later in the period, with a goal by Leo Thomas (John DiPace) at 14:10, but Jason Ruff was just getting started. Ruffer scored three minutes later (Seroski, Briane Thompson), and the intermission arrived with Kansas City in control 4-1 (click for video).

The second period went a little smoother for the Generals, as they picked up a goal from Bobby Reynolds at 14:04 (Rob Valicevic) and held the Outlaws scoreless to close the score to 4-2.

In the final frame, Flint threatened to tie things up. The Generals Tom Ditzer scored just 3:52 into the period to pull within a goal, but Jason Ruff apparently didn't care for that. Ruffer scored his second of the night just 28 seconds later (Seroski, Lee), and the Outlaws again held the 2 goal advantage (click for video).

A goal by Flint's Rob Valicevic at 9:31 (Bobby Reynolds, Mike Tobin) added a little late drama, but Kansas City's Derek Kern sealed the deal, beating Emond with 5:01 remaining (click for video). Jason Ruff and Joe Seroski picked up the assists on Kern's tally, giving Ruff 5 points and Seroski 4 points on the night.

With their multi point games, both Ruff and Seroski reached the 60 point mark for the season. Seroski remains the Outlaws leading scorer with 62 points in 64 games, with Ruff's 60 points in 55 games second on the team.
