Rockford IceHogs News Release

Rockford, Ill.- The Rockford IceHogs and Richmond RiverDogs matched-up for the first time Friday night at the Rockford MetroCentre, and after a 6-0 Hogs win, the RiverDogs might not come back. Goaltender Michel Robinson turned away 20 Richmond shots for his franchise record sixth shutout and Rockford scored four goals in the first period to run away with the win.

The scoring began at 4:20 of the opening frame when winger J.F. Dufour scored his 22 goal of the year, slipping one under goalie Dan McIntyre. Then at 5:48 forward Brandon Segal netted an even strength marker to put Rockford up 2-0. Defenseman Nathan Lutz pushed the lead to three at 8:46 before Segal tallied his second goal of the night after a bad bounce of the dasherboards caught McIntyre out of the net, chasing him at 11:27.

After a scoreless second period, the IceHogs finished off the RiverDogs with two third period goals. Winger Jason Ralph buried a short-handed pass from rookie center Miguel Lafleche at 3:15. Winger Terry Harrison finished the scoring off with a power play marker at 11:25, beating Brent Belecki at 11:25 of the final frame.

The IceHogs finished the night 2-for-6 on the power play and held the Dogs to 0-for-3. Rockford out-shot Richmond 34-20, marking the 11 straight game in which the IceHogs have out-shot their opponents.
