TACOMA, Wash. - Adam Rosales and Kila Ka'aihue homered for Sacramento in Monday night's series opener at Cheney Stadium, leading Sacramento to a 5-2 win over the Tacoma Rainiers.

Trailing 1-0 early, the Cats got on the board with a solo blast by Rosales, tying the game in the bottom of the second. Ka'aihue's homer-a two-run shot in the fourth-was part of a three-run inning that gave Sacramento a 4-1 lead. Graham Godfrey and the River Cats bullpen did the rest, paving the way for Sacramento's third-straight win.

Godfrey (9-0) started and tossed seven innings of four-hit baseball, allowing just a pair of solo home runs to Darren Ford. Rich Thompson threw a scoreless eighth before handing the ball to Merkin Valdez, who recorded the final three outs to pick up his third save of the season.

The loss fell to Tacoma starter Steve Garrison, who gave up all five River Cats runs on eight hits in seven innings.

In addition to the home runs by Ka'aihue and Rosales, Collin Cowgill and Shane Peterson had two hits apiece for Sacramento. Reigning Pacific Coast League Player of the Week Michael Taylor doubled, tying the River Cats team-season-high with an 11-game hitting streak.

Tacoma plays host to Sacramento again Tuesday night at Cheney Stadium. The River Cats will send RHP Tyson Ross (3-2, 2.53 ERA) to the mound against Rainiers RHP Brian Sweeney (4-2, 4.62 ERA), with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. PT.

The River Cats return to Raley Field on Friday, July 20, for a Toyota Family Value Night, where the team will also be celebrating Peace, Love and Baseball. RHP Brad Peacock (7-6, 6.75 ERA) will get the start for Sacramento, as the team welcomes the Tucson Padres to town for a four-game homestand at Raley Field.
