The Sacramento River Cats (56-33) beat the second-place Las Vegas 51s (49-39) 6-4 on Friday at Raley Field in West Sacramento, Calif. RHP Justin Duchscherer (8-2) earned the win, allowing 4 ER on 9 H in 8.1 IP. He held the 51s scorless through eight innings before Las Vegas scored four in the final inning. RHP Roy Smith earned the save for the River Cats, as he recorded the final two outs of the game. RHP Scott Winchester (2-9) took the loss for Las Vegas, allowing 6 ER on 12 H in 7.2 IP.
2B Esteban German led the Cats' offense with 3 H. 1B Dave McCarty had 2 RBI in the game. With the win, Sacramento now leads Las Vegas by six-and-a-half games in the PCL South. The River Cats are 25-12 in 37 games at Raley Field.
