Sacramento River Cats News Release
WEST SACRAMENTO, CA - The Sacramento River Cats (10-11) won their third consecutive game on Friday night, 6-4 over the Reno Aces (6-16). Right-hander Dereck Rodriguez picked up his first win and was backed by home runs from both Steven Duggar and Chris Shaw.
Along with a season-best 6.2 innings pitched, Rodriguez struck out a season-high six batters while allowing three earned runs on seven hits and no walks. Rodriguez also picked up one of the River Cats' five hits and scored a run.
The River Cats muscled two home runs in the fifth inning to take the lead 5-2. Steven Duggar hit his first home run of the season with a two-run blast to right field, and Chris Shaw followed up with a two-run, 434-foot mammoth shot of his own. Hunter Pence made his first rehab appearance with Sacramento and went 0-for-3 with a hit-by-pitch.
The River Cats take on the Reno Aces again in game four of this five-game series on Saturday. Right-hander Casey Kelly (1-2, 10.80) looks to rebound after a rough start earlier this week in Tacoma and he'll face right-hander Troy Scribner (1-1, 5.02). First pitch Saturday night will be at 7:05 p.m. (PT). Catch all of the action live online at rivercats.com, on the MiLB First Pitch app, and on the air on Money 105.5 FM.
Additional Notes

- Shaw's 434-foot home run was the third-longest this season at Raley Field behind only home runs Mac Williamson and Chase d'Arnaud, which were estimated at 435 and 464 feet respectively.
- Sacramento-native Manny Parra picked up his first save of the season, joining Roberto Gomez and Derek Law as the only players to record saves for the River Cats this season.
