COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Scott Moore went 3-for-4-his third-straight multi-hit game-but the River Cats lost to the host Colorado Springs Sky Sox by a score of 8-3 on Wednesday afternoon at Security Service Field.

The River Cats drew first blood, scoring a run in the top of the first when Moore drove in Jemile Weeks who doubled to lead off the game. Neither team scored in the second, but Colorado Springs exploded for five runs in the third and three in the fourth, taking an 8-1 lead.

After three-straight scoreless innings, the River Cats scored twice in the top of the eighth-once on a Stephen Vogt RBI-double, and again on a run-scoring single from Moore-but it wasn't enough, as the River Cats ultimately lost to the Sky Sox, 8-3.

Moore's 3-for-4 night included two RBI and two doubles, while Weeks finished 1-for-4 with two runs, a walk and a strikeout. Vogt went 1-for-4 with a run, an RBI and a double, while Daric Barton finished the day 2-for-3 with a walk.

The loss was charged to Andrew Werner, who gave up all eight Sky Sox runs on nine hits and two walks with three strikeouts in six innings of work, moving his record to 7-12 on the year. Lefty Pedro Viola-making his Sacramento debut-came out of the bullpen to throw one scoreless inning, followed by a shutout eighth inning from righty Evan Scribner.

Jeff Manship tallied his fourth win for the Sky Sox, giving up three runs-two earned-on seven hits and one walk with four strikeouts in 7.1 innings. Hernan Iribarren went 2-for-5 with two runs and three RBI, while Xavier Nady finished the day 1-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored for the Sky Sox.

The Cats travel home to Raley Field on Thursday, July 11 at 7:05 p.m. for a four-game homestand during which three bobbleheads-Eric Hinske, Mark Ellis and Eric Byrnes-will be given away. PCL wins leader Bruce Billings (9-4, 4.26 ERA) will face Fresno Grizzlies lefty Eric Surkamp (2-0, 2.45 ERA) to open the four-game set against the San Francisco Giants Triple-A affiliate.
