
River Cats Earn Split with Stingers

West Sacramento - The Sacramento River Cats defeated the Salt Lake Stingers, 5-2, at Raley Field on Sunday night to earn a split of the two teams' 4-game series.
Cats Starter Juan Cruz, in his third start since joining the team, tied a Sacramento record for strikeouts in a game (11) en route to his first victory of the season with the River Cats. Third Baseman Bobby Smith (3-for-4, HR, 3 RBI), Right Fielder Matt Watson (2-for-3, 2 2B) and Left Fielder Shawn Garrett (2-for-4, RBI) accounted for 7 of the team's 9 hits on the night to lead the Sacramento offense.
The River Cats hit the road on Monday to begin a 4-game set against the Colorado Springs Sky Sox. RHP Mike Ziegler (2-2, 4.34) will go for the Cats in game one against the Sky Sox' RHP Christian Parker (0-0, 9.64).
