Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

OMAHA - Five Omaha Royals pitchers combined on a five-hitter in a 2-0 victory over the Albuquerque Isotopes Sunday night at Rosenblatt Stadium. The win, which took just 2-hours-and-16 minutes to complete in front of 22,023 fans, ended the Royals five-game losing streak overall, six-game home losing spin and seven-game skein against Albuquerque.

Denny Bautista made his third rehab assignment start for Kansas Ctiy. Although Bautista did not allow a run over three innings, he had to leave the game prematurely due to soreness in his right shoulder.

Lefty Shane Nance (2-0) wound up with the win, as he also fired three scoreless innings and, like Bautista, allowed two hits. Jaime Cerda and Justin Huisman tag-teamed for two hitless frames of relief. Santiago Ramirez gave up a double to Joe Dillon leading off the ninth, but retired the next three batters to earn his fourth save of the season and wrap up Omaha's fourth shutout victory of 2005.

The Royals, who had scored only six runs during their five-game skid, did just better than that Sunday. Adrian Brown rifled a triple down the right field line with two outs in the third inning. It was the PCL All-Star outfielder's team-leading seventh triple, tied for third most in the Pacific Coast League. Brown scored when Denny Hocking lined Travis Smith's 2-2 pitch into right field for an RBI single.

Smith (2-3), who surrendered Chris Truby's ninth home run of the season with two outs in the fourth, wound up allowing two runs on five hits in six stanzas to take the loss. The defeat was the first suffered by the Isotopes (46-38) in their past five games.

The Royals (39-45) travel to Memphis on Monday for a 6:35 p.m. game at AutoZone Park It will be RH Shawn Camp (2-5, 4.70) vs. RH Mark Nussbeck (2-3, 3.31). Air-time is 6:15 on Magic 1490 and at www.Oroyals.com.
