Rivalry weekend in the CHL

There are several great rivalry games this weekend pitting teams that have long histories versus each other. The Oklahoma City Blazers head to Mississippi to play the RiverKings in a two-game series (Friday and Saturday). The two teams have met 109 times this season with a pretty lopsided result, the Blazers are 72-27-10.
Also tonight, the Amarillo Gorillas head to Rio Rancho to take on the New Mexico Scorpions. The Scorps and Gorillas have battled for the last decade, back into the WPHL. The series has been pretty close but the Scorpions own the edge with 58 wins including one a week ago (a 3-2 shootout victory).
The Wichita Thunder and Tulsa Oilers re-new acquaintances tonight in the first of 10 games this season. In the 172 previous regular season meetings, the Thunder have 89 wins and the Oilers 82 in the tight comparison.
Laredo Looks for #10
The Laredo Bucks are at home on Friday facing the Corpus Christi Rayz looking to win their 10th straight game to start the season. The CHL record is 10 straight wins held by the 2002-03 Austin Ice Bats along with the 1996-96 WPHL New Mexico Scorpions. Should the Bucks get by the Rayz, they will look to break the record tomorrow night at home versus the Youngstown SteelHounds.
K-9's Road Report
Arizona starts a long stretch tonight that will have them away from home for 12 of their next 15 games and for five in a row. The Sundogs meet the Colorado Eagles tonight at the BEC. Arizona's lone trip back home will be three games versus Austin during the weekend after Thanksgiving.
The other CHL canine's, the Youngstown SteelHounds, play game # nine of a 14-game season-opening road trip that has them 7-0-1 thus far. Youngstown has three games this weekend; @ Austin tonight, @ Laredo tomorrow and @ Rio Grande Valley on Sunday. The SteelHounds are three points in front of Texas in the Northeast Division.
100 Percent
The Colorado Eagles have been giving an effort this season but with many various injuries they have dropped a franchise-tying record three straight games. If they put an end to that streak tonight they will accomplish something else other than avoiding four straight losses by winning their 100th regular season home game. The Eagles have truly loved the home-ice advantage going 99-20-9 at home and have had 156 consecutive sell-outs.
