Grizzlies take out Victoria 7-1

West Valley City, Utah - The Utah Grizzlies defeated the Victoria Salmon Kings 7-1 Friday night at the E-Center. Trevor Smith set a Utah season-high with four points (two goals, two assists.)

The Grizzlies broke the game open with three goals in the second and three in the third.

Utah led 1-0 after one period with Trevor Smith scoring at 17:11. Utah outshot Victoria 14-5 in the opening frame.

Utah set a season-high twice in the game for fastest consecutive goals. Jason Pitton and Trevor Smith scored 1:08 apart (10:35-11:43) in the second as the Grizzlies went up from 2-0 - 4-0. The Grizzlies then scored 47 seconds apart (6:56-7:39) with Jason Pitton again and Keith Johnson lighting the lamp for Utah to go up from 4-0 - 6-0.

Tyler Haskins finished the scoring at 16:17 of the third to make it 7-0.

Haskins (one goal, two assists), Pitton (two goals), and Martin Frechette (two assists) also collected multiple-point games for the Grizzlies. 13 Utah skaters total scored in the game.

Jeff Dwyer, Haskins and Smith all registered a plus-four in the contest.

The Salmon Kings got on the board with a power-play goal with just over a minute left in the game to breakup Mike Mole's shutout.

Utah outshot Victoria 50-23 in the game. Scott Burt extended his Utah season-high scoring streak to seven with his sixth goal of the year to make it 2-0.

The Grizzlies return to the E-Center tomorrow and Monday hosting Victoria again. Face-offs both nights are scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
