
Hounds win wild game against Bats

AUSTIN, TEXAS - The Youngstown SteelHounds improved to 8-0-1 (17 points) with a wild 7-2 victory over the Austin Ice Bats on Friday night.
This game featured 167 combined penalty minutes and 20 power play opportunities. The Hounds tied a franchise record with five power play goals. Adam Smyth kept his point streak and goal scoring streak going as he scored his fourth of the season at 6:18 to make it 1-0 Youngstown. Smyth has scored a goal in four straight games and a point in six. Kurtis Dulle scored his first of the season at 12:42 on the power play to make it 2-0 Hounds after one period.
Only one player was able to score without the man advantage and that was Petr Pohl. Pohl scored the lone even strength goal of the game at 14:26 of the second period to put Youngstown up 4-1 at that point. Pohl scored a shorthanded goal with 3:29 left in regulation to put the SteelHounds up 7-1. Petr Pohl now has six goals on the season.
Other goal scorers for Youngstown included Jeff Alcombrack who scored his third and Joel Irving who scored his fourth of the season. It was Chris Richards who stole the show for the Hounds scoring one goal and having three assists. He now leads the team in points with 14 (5 goals + 9 assists).
Austin's goals came from Jamie Thompson and Zech Klann, both were on the power play. Ice Bats Head Coach Brent Hughes received a 10 minute - game misconduct in the first period. Austin is now 2-8-0 (4 points).
Brad Roberts was excellent in his first start this season making 37 saves on 39 shots. The Hounds now improve to 8-0-1 (17 points) and will play at the undefeated Laredo Bucks on Saturday night at 8:30 on WSOM AM 600 and SteelHounds.com.
