Rippers Earn First Win

MARION, ILLINOIS - The London Rippers have won their first game in franchise history.

Zach Larson crushed a solo homer with two outs in the top of the 9th inning for his first hit of the season, propelling the Rippers to a 3-2 win over Southern Illinois.

The Rippers got their first lead of the season right off the bat, the second batter of the game, Justino Cuevas, was hit by a pitch and took 3rd on a single by Joash Brodin. The next batter, David Christensen brought Cuevas home with a single of his own.

Southern Illinois came right back with a run in the 1st and took a 2-1 lead in the 4th on a sac fly from Matt Fields.

David Christensen was also involved in the second Rippers run, doubling with one out in the 6th, stealing second and then scoring on a wild pitch.

Rippers' star ter, David Francis went 4 innings, giving up 6 hits and 2 runs (1 earned). He struck out 3 and didn't walk anyone.

Eric Katzman pitched two clean innings. He was followed up by another two solid innings in relief by Adam Arnold, who earns the victory (1-0)

Charles Wooten came on to record the first save in London Rippers' history.

The Rippers road trip continues in O'Fallon, Missouri on Tuesday. Following an off day tomorrow, London will face the River City Rascals in a three game set before coming home f or Friday's season opener at Labatt Park.
