Riders welcome back Kitwana Jones
September 9, 2009 - Canadian Football League (CFL)
Saskatchewan Roughriders News Release
The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed defensive end Kitwana Jones. Financial details of the signing were not released.
Jones was traded from the Roughriders to Edmonton prior to the start of this season and dressed in nine regular season games for the Eskimos. He has recorded seven defensive tackles, ten special teams tackles and a quarterback sack so far this season.
"We're very pleased to welcome Kitwana back," stated Riders Director of Player Personnel Joe Womack. "Sometimes you get lucky in life and this is one of those days. We've seen the flip side, of course, with the very unfortunate injuries to Rey (Williams) and Kye (Stewart), which really hurt us, especially with the special team units. Kitwana will help us significantly in that area, and, whatever role Etch gives him with our defence, we know he'll play with great passion and energy."
The Hampton product spent four seasons with the Green and White before he was traded to the Eskimos. In 64 games with the Riders, Jones tallied 91 defensive tackles, 51 special teams tackles, seven quarterback sacks and five tackles for a loss.
