Gibson's Finest CFL Players of the Week 10

Toronto, ON - (September 09, 2009) - Martell Mallett, JoJuan Armour, Andre Durie and Dave Stala were named the Gibson's Finest CFL Players of the Week for week 10, the Canadian Football League announced today.

The four players were chosen by a panel of judges that includes former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde, now of TSN, and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.

Gibson's Finest CFL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

RB - Martell Mallett - BC Lions

Montreal Alouettes 12 @ BC Lions 19

Highlights / Key Stats:

Martell Mallett led the way offensively for the BC Lions in week 10 setting a team record with 213 yards rushing on 21 carries. Mallett also had two catches for 14 yards and a touchdown in the Lions 19-12 victory over the league leading Alouettes.

Mallett currently leads the CFL in yards from scrimmage with 994. He also sits second in rushing behind only Winnipeg's Fred Reid with 748 yards.

Gibson's Finest CFL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

LB - JoJuan Armour - BC Lions

Montreal Alouettes 12 @ BC Lions 19

Highlights / Key Stats:

JoJuan Armour had seven tackles and two sacks to lead the way for a BC defence that prevented the Alouettes from scoring an offensive touchdown on Friday night.

The Lions have gone 3-1 since the hard-hitting Armour joined the team after starting the season at 1-4.

KR/WR - Andre Durie - Toronto Argonauts

Toronto Argonauts 15 @ Hamilton Tiger-Cats 34

Highlights / Key Stats:

Andre Durie was excellent on kick returns for the Argos in their loss to the Ticats Monday. Durie had 6 returns for 189 yards in the game. His longest return was an 82-yarder in the third quarter.

The Argos third year man out of York University also recorded a special teams tackle on punt coverage for the Argos.

WR - Dave Stala - Hamilton Tiger-Cats

Toronto Argonauts 15 @ Hamilton Tiger-Cats 34

Highlights / Key Stats:

Dave Stala had six catches for 68 yards and a touchdown in Hamilton's Labour Day victory over the Argos. His six catches tied him with Arland Bruce III for the most by a Ticat in the game.

Stala's touchdown in the first quarter was the second of the season for the veteran receiver out of St. Mary's.
